The Project
Waves Coffee is an independent coffee shop based on the Roker seafront. The owner had originally created a logo when the shop first opened, and while it held sentimental value and a recognisable identity, it no longer fully reflected the evolving customer base. The challenge was to refresh the branding so it felt modern and versatile, while still retaining the charm and familiarity that loyal customers connected with.
 

The Approach
We worked closely with the owner to subtly evolve the existing logo, tweaking the typography and refining the signature wave-like flicks within the letters. This allowed the design to feel fresh and contemporary without losing the essence of the original. Alongside the updated logo, we introduced a new colour palette and created a range of versatile brand assets, including stamp logos for use across packaging, coffee cups, merchandise, signage, and social media.
 

The Outcome
The refreshed identity has given Waves Coffee a bolder, cleaner, and more professional look that resonates with both new and existing customers. The modernised design strikes a balance between elegance and approachability, ensuring the brand feels current while staying true to its roots. The client was delighted with the outcome and has since received fantastic feedback from their community.
